Warmth by the fireplace

My dolls lately have been complaining of the cold so I decided to make them a fireplace to keep them warm on those extra cool nights.

Here’s what you need:

  • assorted construction paper (red, orange, and yellow)
  • 1 piece of black construction paper
  • a roll of duct tape (I used red)
  • sharpie or permanent marker
  • scissors
  • double sided sticky tap
  • a blank wall (make sure to ask an adult’s permission before you apply anything to the wall)

Start by getting the black construction paper and sticking it on the wall horizontally using the double-sided tape. Then get your duct tape and cut 2 pieces of duct tape the same length as your sides. Then cut a third strip a little bit longer than the top of your black construction paper. If you would like you can draw a pattern on your duct tape using permanent marker (I did brick pattern)

Next you will cut out “Flame” shapes using the red, orange, and yellow construction paper.

You will then arrange your “flames” the way you like then using your tape, tape down the construction paper in the way you like.

Now your done, your dolls will enjoy the warmth of the fireplace, Addy definitely is !

How to make an american girl doll ottoman/ desk/ couch

This is how to make an american girl doll ottoman.

Gather the supplies you will need:

  • Duct tape
  • Scissors
  • something that looks like an ottoman (if you want to make a desk just get something that looks like a desk instead of an ottoman.)

First get your ottoman shape, this can be made out of cardboard or it can be something you already have. I used an ottoman shape that came from a vent-a-hood box. Once you’ve gotten or made your ottoman shape get the rest of your supplies.(Sorry I already made the the ottoman before I took the picture.)

Next you are going to duct tape the sides being careful to trim it when needed. Then you will need to tape the top and cut of the excess. once you’ve done the top and the sides, flip the ottoman over and tape it being careful not to overlap with the sides or the top. (this step is optional, but recommended for a cleaner overall look.) When you are satisfied with the ottoman being covered  you are done and it is ready to be played with. Below are a couple of ways you can use the ottoman.

put your ottoman in your living room (I will make a post in the near future on how to make the couch)

If you flip the the ottoman over you can use it as a couch.
